Ku-ring-gai Council

Residents can make submissions to Ku-ring-gai Council at any time right up until a DA is determined. To ensure full consideration by the assigned council assessment planner, iObject prescribes an additional two to three-week ‘Informal Deadline’, depending on the scale of the project in question.

If there is insufficient time to produce a detailed submission within Council’s notification period, we recommend seeking a deadline extension directly from the council officer, which iObject can negotiate on your behalf.

Submissions must address planning law considerations rather than general opposition.

Experience Highlight: KILLARA

Alterations and additions to existing dwelling, demolition of existing and construction of new swimming pool and associated works.

Address: No. 24 Locksley Street Killara, NSW

Application: eDA0183/24

Services Provided: DA Deficiency Audit & Principal Objection

Impact Risks

  • The proposal for an expansive elevated terrace raised overlooking concerns into our Client’s dwelling. The location and size of numerous rear and side-facing windows would have seriously compromised our Client’s ability to enjoy their living areas privately.

  • Lack of building separation along the side boundary would have led to an oppressive built form.

  • A number of design choices would have competed with the original form of the historic principal building, whilst towering over our Client’s home.

  • The additions would have made a significant mark on the surrounding streetscape context, negatively affecting adjacent heritage-listed dwellings.

Determination: Council sided with iObject's evaluation of the problematic DA, agreeing on a number of fronts. Council subsequently requested the applicant withdraw their application, thus eliminating the proposal in its submitted form.

What iObject Achieved
Ensured the surrounding streetscape character and heritage values of Locksley Street were preserved, whilst protecting the amenity of our Client’s adjacent home in terms of privacy and building separation.
